April 04, 2018

Jim McCloskey has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Dizikes Faculty Teaching Award in Humanities. The announcement by Dean Tyler Stovall came yesterday, who cited the high praise from both students and colleagues for Jim's inspiring and engaging teaching over the years, as well as the inclusive learning environment he creates in his classroom.

Jim will be presented officially with the Dizikes Award at the Celebrating the Humanities: Spring Awards and Retirements Celebration, which will take place on Friday, June 8 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Cowell Provost House.

Named in honor of Professor Emeritus John Dizikes, the award celebrates the Humanities faculty’s commitment to excellence in teaching and its transformative impact for students. It honors the work of faculty and supports students who aspire to learning and critical thinking.

Several linguistics faculty have received the Dizikes Award in the past, including Pranav Anand (2016), Donka Farkas (2013), Jorge Hankamer (2011), and Jaye Padgett (2006).
