We are delighted that Amy Rose Deal has joined our department as of January 2012.

Dr. Deal received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 2010 and was Assistant Professor in the linguistics department of Harvard University until coming to UCSC.

Her research investigates connections between syntactic, semantic and morphological properties of natural language. Dr. Deal has a particular interest in the Nez Perce language, on which she has conducted fieldwork for the past five years.
